Sangria

 July 30, 2021

Sometimes you just have a lot of fruit left and you don’t know what to do with it. Well, look no further because sangria is super quick and simple to make. And the best part is that it is really tasty! Especially if you have very hot days ahead, so make a lot of it right away!

You know those really cheap packs of red wine? They are perfect for this. You can of course also use other types of wine, but that’s a waste of the taste because you add the fruits anyway!

There are also many recipes that say you should add white wine or gin, but to make the sangria nice and airy and to be able to drink a lot of it without getting drunk with the hot weather, we add sparkling water in Spain! Then you also get your water inside, which is very good in the summer!

Well, gather your fruit and let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 2 oranges
  • 3 peaches
  • 2 apricots
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 lemons (for zest and juice)
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 liter of bubble water
  • 2 liters of red wine

Preparation

First wash all the fruits, and make sure you have a two liter bottle (or two large one liter jars) and that they fit in your fridge. Cut all fruits into cubes. Peel and juice the oranges and lemon. Add everything together in the jars or bottles, with the sugar and cinnamon.

Pour the wine over everything, then stir with a large wooden spoon to dissolve the sugar. Close the jars. Put them in the fridge for a day and then taste it. You can add a little more sugar, but be careful because the fruit is also very sweet!

Serve your sangria with ice cubes and a little sparkling water!

Voilà, a homemade sangria!

The result

Delicious! I hadn’t made sangria in a really long time so I definitely enjoyed it. Now of course I want to try it with apple cider or cava, because that will certainly taste really good!

This recipe is really a perfect example of the #zerofoodwastecollab I host with Sara from @saartjebakttaartjes, every 30th of the month on instagram!

Well my friends, enjoy your weekend, I’m on vacation!
